Border Collies are bred for their herding ability. they originated many centuries ago in the border regions of Scotland and England.
No matter what breed the dog, a mother with pups is always a pleasant memory.
In this painting I have placed the mother and pups at the gate of a croft on the Isle of Uist in Scotland.
The Pups all seem to have their attention fixed in the same area while the mother scans the distant hills, perhaps watching for stray sheep.
